Formation through Education

A world without writing? The transmission of worldviews does not necessarily presuppose the written word, but it certainly helps. But what is the significance of writing in relation to the spoken word? Written evidence is seen by researchers as a prerequisite for good scholarship. Neufchâtel pictures the importance of writing for the apprentice, but has him gazing toward the hand of the master, which points and clarifies: Johann Neudörfer made a decisive contribution to the development of cursive script in the German lands, thereby laying the groundwork for a broader education – and hence also the capacity to form opinions.
